VTuesday, 20 September, the Brasov local authorities received the visit of H.E. for Maciej Lang, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Romania who was accompanied by the head of the Consular Section, consul Jarosław Szkirpan and the honorary consul of the Republic of Poland in Brasov, Mr. Janusz Wiesław Szaliński. The topics of discussion were: the twinning of the municipality of Brasov with the city of Krakow, the second largest in Poland, economic collaboration and the interest of the LOT airline to operate at the future airport from Ghimbav.
The event started at Brașov City Hall, where the Polish diplomat and the mayor of Brasov, Allen Coliban, they determined that, in the next period, the relationship between the two municipalities will focus on the organization of joint cultural events and activities, following that then the process of formalizing the twinning will be accelerated. It was highlighted that the two cities share the part of tourist interest, that of valuing the heritage, but also multiculturalism and that they can collaborate on the investment side, in fields such as the automotive industry, IT and green energy, but also from the point of view of education and workforce training, both at the university level, as well as that of dual education.
At the headquarters of the Brașov County Prefecture, extraordinary guests together with Mihai Cătălin Văsii, with the president of the County Council – Adrian Ioan Vestea, they addressed topics such as: the situation generated by the Russian invasion in Ukraine and the common challenges that Romania and Poland have to face in this context; the possibilities of cooperation, especially economic, between Brașov County and Poland, knowing the potential in this regard.
This was followed by a visit to Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport,where Alexandru Anghel, the director of the AIBG Autonomous Directorate, provided the technical-economic details of the most important investment objective of Brasov county, there being interest in a collaboration with the airline LOT.
The day ended with the visit of the diplomats to the headquarters of the Polish Consulate in Brașov.
